The Moto2 category concluded the first day of practice at Silverstone with Pol Espargaro continuing his domination of the English circuit. The Spaniard after taking this morning’s wet session also topped the second one with a late lap of 2’08″826 and he was the only rider to go under the 2’09 mark.

“Polyccio” (Espargaro’s nick name) managed to put behind him home boys Scott Redding- who led for most of the session - and Bradley Smith who were second and third respectively, while Redding’s fast lap that put him slightly closer to the Pons rider was later cancelled after he cut a corner.

Marc Marquez grabbed the fourth fastest time but he was seventh tenths slower but just 0.o27s from Smith. Johann Zarco moved up to fifth with Beta Utensils coloured livery. Alex de Angelis made a big jump forward from 13th this morning to this afternoon’s 6th and he was the last rider to be within a second of Espargaro.

Toni Elias also jumped up four spots to take 7th. Last year’s Silverstone pole man Claudio Corti was 8th, while Catalunya winner Andrea Iannone who hates the weather at Silverstone was 9th with Simone Corsi closing out the top ten. Standings leader Thomas Luthi suffered a crash early in the session that left him down in 19th as his team repaired his Suter.

Debuting in the afternoon session after missing FP1 was reigning Moto2 CIV champion Alessandro Andreozzi with his FTR M210 who finished 30th. .
