Ducati Streetfighter Takes Bling to a New Level

Some people saw a motorcycle cut in the performing arts while still others see them only as a blank canvas, only the starting point from which to create something special and unique. Shift-Tech clearly include the latter when they are sculpted Ducati Streetfighter special in just 4 weeks by using a combination of the high end of the shelf, and custom components.

Ducati’s Streetfighter, the successor Monster S4Rs is effectively a 1098 with the bodywork off with an appropriate performance. Producing 155bhp, more than enough to motivate slender 373 pounds (169kg). Most people when they receive a new bike they just want to go up. Shift-Tech, supplier performance carbon, in cooperation with Moto Corse Performance, decided it was best to tear it and begin the process of creating a unique motorcycle that can be displayed at the Concorso Ducati will be held at the Indianapolis MotoGP (August 28-30).

Features a bicycle several components of highest quality you can put on any bike, things like the Ohlins R & T forks, a TTX rear shock from the same company and pretty BST carbon fiber rims. Given Shift-Tech’s raison d’etre should not be surprising to see a large amount of carbon on this bike. Call it, already swap out, the guard lock and gas cap until the fender, hugger and undertray. Even the throttle body mounting bracket is carbon. Not really show favoritism to weave black, titanium has that same day with the lightweight metal used for the axle nut (front axle is aluminum) and brake caliper bolts and remove such from Streetfighter bag stock nuts and bolts that weighs some 4 pounds !

Perhaps the thing that stands out first is the custom single termignoni exhaust system which removes the most unsightly part of the stock machine replacing it with a much smaller and lighter serpentine of goodness.

It all isn’t just for show, there are some bona fide high end performance components on the bike too. Naturally the carbon rims lower total and, more importantly unsprung and rotating mass, improving acceleration, turn in and braking. The bike has an EVR slipper clutch to help keep the wheels inline during maximum effort corner entries and the brakes have been significantly upgraded with ceramic rotors and an upgraded Brembo master cylinder. The engine is still stock but that’s okay because there are plans to fit a 180 bhp, 1098R engine although that may not be done prior the Indy show!!

All that is left to say is that the work appears tastefully done with quality components and I’m jealous. If you are going to the Indy MotoGP check it out!!
